Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment which covered 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family was sometimes dependent on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran remembers her fatheras a man who sometimes drank too much and behaved towards her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran struggled at school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
